Sometime last night, this handsome young dog appeared on the Lucky Dog side of our gate. We've named him Ranger. He's approximately 1 year old, weighs 14 kilos, appears very healthy, is surprisingly clean, and was wearing a collar, though unfortunately there were no tags attached. Ranger spent much of today trying to figure out where he was and why he was here. Thankfully, our volunteers made sure he received plenty of attention, treats, and reassurance while he settled in. After last week's experience with Chip/Luca, a dog who was mistakenly believed to have been abandoned but was actually deeply loved and missed by his family, we're approaching Ranger's situation carefully. At this point, we simply don't know his story. For the next week, Ranger will remain in isolation while we complete his health evaluation and actively look for any family that may be searching for him. If Ranger looks familiar to you, or if you know where he may have come from, please send us a message. And if no one comes forward? Then we'll help Ranger begin the next chapter of his story. We see it all the time: "Someone help this dog." Sometimes helping doesn't require a rescue. Is there a neighborhood dog that everyone knows? The friendly dog that visits local businesses...The dog that greets people on morning walks...The dog that seems to belong to everyone and no one at the same time... Sometimes being "the someone" is as simple as helping them wear a tag. It's hard to have a bad day when you're surrounded by Lucky Dogs. Some days are full of big projects. Some days are full of adoptions. And some days are just about hanging out with the dogs. A few tail wags. A few scratches behind the ears. A few happy faces looking back at you through the fence. It's amazing how quickly they can brighten your day. We think they enjoy the visits too. Doxie Lovers... where are you? Meet Henry. He's 7 years old, ridiculously sweet, and needs a foster or adopter soon. Henry has spent most of his life living outside, but you'd never know it from the way he melts into your lap and soaks up attention. Now, let's address the tiny dachshund-shaped elephant in the room. Henry will need to be neutered and may need to wear a belly band for a little while as he learns that not everything in the house needs his personal signature on it. Doxie people already know this isn't exactly unheard of. What Henry needs is someone willing to give him a little patience, a little guidance, and a whole lot of love. In return? Another New Dog Arrived. A dog was thrown over the fence at Lucky Dog last night. Thankfully, they're safe. But every new emergency pushes another dog a little farther into the background. While everyone is talking about the newest arrival, dogs like Deb, Cher, Sam, Barb, Chad, Terry, Beau, Jay, Zorro, Sassy, Spicy, Nate, Muffin, Jenny, Ollie, and Chance are still here. Still waiting.
