Max's 3 Days Away: Day 3
Three days ago, Max was just another puppy waiting in a kennel. Today? He landed an interview for Friday! And that's what these 3 Days Away adventures are all about. Not perfection. Not pretending dogs don't have things to learn. Just giving them a chance to show people who they are outside the shelter. So far, we've learned that Max: Sleeps through the night Does his potty business outside Loves walks Is curious about absolutely everything Plays hard and naps even harde

Ollie's 3 Days Away: Day 4???
The plan was for Ollie to return to Lucky Dog today. Ollie reviewed the weather, looked outside, and submitted a formal request for one more day. Given the torrential rain and the fact that nobody could possibly say no to that face... his request has been unanimously APPROVED! So, Ollie will be enjoying one bonus day of couch privileges, belly rubs, and avoiding puddles before heading back tomorrow.

Max's 3 Days Away: Day 2
Having two Lucky Dogs out on aways at the same time means double the tails and double the stories. Today's Max update: Explored things Found toys Took a nap Claimed a princess bed Took another nap It was a pretty productive day, even with the rain. We're learning that Max is curious, affectionate, fearless, and always interested in whatever is happening around him. And when he's done exploring? He's more than happy to curl up and recharge for the next adventure. The bi

Ollie's 3 Days Away: Day 3
Last Day, I'll need to return to the shelter tomorrow. So, after a poolside strategy session with my canine companions, we've reached the following conclusion: I am a pretty great dog. The only thing we can't seem to figure out is why I haven't had much interest yet. So we decided to try something a little different and see if it gets more people's attention. This was our best idea. What do you think? Like this post Share this post Tag someone you know who might be looking

Max's 3 Days Away: Day 1
When Max left Lucky Dog today, we weren't quite sure what he'd think about life outside the shelter. According to Lori... He's doing amazing. He's settled in beautifully, is enjoying the patio life, and seems perfectly content just hanging out with his people. Not bad for a 5-month-old puppy who is still learning how the world works. One of the things we love most about our 3 Days Away program is that it gives dogs a chance to show us who they really are outside the shelter.

Ollie's 3 Days Away: Day 2
When I left Lucky Dog the other day, I thought this adventure might be about learning new things and going to a bunch of new places. Then it rained. A LOT. It turns out "adventure" is mostly about snacks, naps, playing ball, and hanging out with people and short dogs. That's pretty cool. Daily life isn't always GO GO GO. Most of the time it's just BE BE BE. And honestly, that's pretty much exactly what I'm best at. -Ollie

Ollie's 3 Days Away: Day 1
Today was a GOOD day for Ollie. First came the car ride. Then a trip to the park, where he conducted a highly detailed investigation of approximately 4,372 smells. Next, he met his hosts and their dogs. Introductions were done one at a time so everyone could get comfortable. Ollie was also surprised to discover that some dogs are considerably shorter than he is. He was then relieved to learn that tennis balls are not exclusive to Lucky Dog. A neighborhood pack walk followed.
